Well I finally have time to sit down and think about the last few days. Sitting in a hotel in Calgary, watching the masses of cowboy hats go by on the street.

Started my trip by renting a Hyundai Sonata on Monday Night. We own a Chevy Silverado, and with the price of gas, and being that my dad works for a car rental company, it was economical to rent a car for the mileage will be doing.

I left home on Tuesday after noon at 2pm, it takes 3.5 hours to get to Kelowna. I bought a Magellan 3000T GPS at Costco, and was eager to try out my new toy. I was set to meet Corby at the front or Prospera place at aprox 6pm. The car is a dream to drive, very quiet and peppy for a 4 cylinder. I had Steve’s Bala recordings for the trip, and I send him a big thanks for sharing, excellent sound!

I arrived at 5:30 and meet Corby. It has been few months since we meet each other at the Commodore show last May. We caught up with things and talked about him doing the DVD of the footage we were going to shoot that night. We got a chance to say high to some of the crew and got inline for the doors @ 6:30.

Our seats were at opposite ends of row 1, and we were excited about the video we were going to get. The Sadies came on at 7:30 and put on a great show, they did a great job of getting the crowd ready for the Hip! The boys came on at 8:45, and wow it is great being in the front row! Just before the show another taper Joel contacted me and asked if I was going to Seattle the next day. We made plans for the next day to carpool down to the show, always great to have company on a road trip.

We meet a couple of other tapers at the show that had not taped the Hip before, and they really enjoyed the energy of the music and performance. We exchanged contact information and plan to exchange our recordings.

After the show Corby and I exchanged recordings, and I was on my way back home. The 3.5 hour trip flew by and I was home at 3AM with enough time for some sleep and going into work for about 4 hours before leaving for the Seattle show.

To be continued….
