Well we made it to Toronto!
Mona had to come to the big smoke on business, and I wanted to tag along to visit some old roaming grounds when I was a in my early teens. A lot has changed over 25 years!
We arrived at the new Terminal 1 at the Toronto International Airport, and boy is it big. It is a nice new building, but Vancouver’s new terminal beats it hands down!
We picked up our luggage with no problems but when it came to getting a taxi, I was almost swindled. I say I because I am too trusting, but Mona has a bit more smarts when it comes to these types of things. We were looking for a express bus to the hotels when a fellow came up and asked if he could help us, and if we were looking for a taxi or bus?. I said a taxi, and he mentioned for us to follow him. Immediately airport officials came to our aid and mentioned that this man was soliciting for business unofficially, and that he will lead us to the parking garage and then charge us more than the normal rate. The man started arguing and trying to coax me into going with him, “Your the Man, you make the decisions!”. I just laughed! We were then lead to an official taxi by another Toronto airport official and on the way out, we were apologized to by another. I was just in a stunned state over the way we were looked after and protected. WOW!
I give the officials at the Toronto Airport a big One Geeks Approval for their quick and responsive customer service.
